ANALISIS TOTAL BAKTERI DAN KOLIFORM AIR SUNGAI KARANG MUMUS SEKITAR PEMUKIMAN PENDUDUK DI KOTA SAMARINDA
Abstract
A descriptive study of the density of bacteria in the waters of the river of Karang Mumus has
been done in city of Samarinda. People who live along the river banks, still use the river water for
bathing, washing, and toilet. The study was conducted from September to October 2014. The purpose
of this study was to determine the total bacteria, total coliforms (including Escherichia coli). The
research sample are the waterof the river of Karang Mumus, taken on: the first point (region free of
settlements), the second point (densely populated areas), the third point (residential and market
area). Data were analyzed by comparing the total bacterial of the bakteriologic examination results
provided that the wateris good quality shows that plate count less than100 cells of bacterioa per
milliliter of water. While the density of MPN of coliforms, by comparing data with the results of
laboratory tests on limit of coliform contamination of clean water, which is not more than 50 bacterial
cells per milliliter of water (Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Number
416/Men-Kes/PER/IX/1990). Related to the content of total bacteria and total coliform, all samples
showed that unfit as clean water. The content of bacteria in the water of river are influenced by a
variety of organic waste matter, including human feces dumped into water bodies. Periodically
research needs to be done to monitor the current bacteriological content of the water of the river of
Karang Mumus
