Abstract
Palm kernel meal can be used as fish feed with a protein content of 14%, but this content is still low, so to overcome this problem it is necessary to study the processing of Palm kernel by mixing commercial feed, so that palm kernel meal has added value as a raw material for fish feed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in the growth of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fed pellets from palm kernel meal and from bran. The research design used 2 treatments, namely: the first treatment (P1) feed based on palm kernel meal and the second treatment (P2) feed based on bran. Data were analyzed using 2 independent samples (unpaired) test. Observational data are entered in the table and analyzed using the z test. The results of the study on day 35 that the total weight growth of P1 (88,11 g) was relatively higher than that of P2 (51,96 g), the growth of total length of P1 (5,90 cm) was relatively higher than P2 (3,93 cm). The daily growth rate of P1 (2,51 g) was relatively higher than that of P2 (1,43 g), the feed conversion of P1 (2,03) was relatively lower than that of P2 (3,18). The water quality of the maintenance media measured was the temperature ranged from 26.74 - 26.76 oC, pH 7.10 - 7.14, DO 4.6 - 4.9 mg/l, TAN 0.75 - 0.82 mg/ l. The results showed that feed pellets made from palm kernel meal gave higher growth in weight and length of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) when compared to the growth of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) given bran-based feed. Meanwhile, the feed conversion with the addition of bran was higher when compared to the addition of palm kernel meal
