dc.description.abstract | Place is an important part of human life in general, and is a key concept in understanding the study of Political Geography. However, the concept of place is a concept that is highly dominated by materialistic understanding. The materialistic understanding of this concept is not sufficient to represent the development of information technology, especially social media, which has an impact on various aspects of the life of the world community, especially Indonesia. This paper aims to review critically the meaning of the concept of place in the study of Political Geography. Using qualitative methods, data on social media in Indonesia is collected and then it is used to review the concept of place in Political Geography. It was found that the activity of using social media in Indonesia can actually replace activities that have been materialistically dependent on place, so that the concept of place is not only found in the materialistic physical area, but also applies to non-materialistic areas, namely social media. | en_US |
