dc.description.abstractUtilization of plants to improve water quality coul d be done by utilizing aquatic plants. One of plants species that can be used was kiambang (Salvinia molesta). The purpose of this research was to improve water quality in po st-coal mine ponds that were used for fishery cultivation. The method oh this resear ch was laboratory test. Utilization of kiambang plants was determined to absorb dissolved materials in the water to improve water quality. Laboratory research were done side b y side with plants trial in the pond of post-coal mine water that used for fish farming. The experiment was carried out for 7 (seven) days by observing the water quality changes in the aquarium that used as research medium. Parameter analyzed were dissolved oxygen, pH, NO 2 , NH 3 and H 2 S. The result of dissolved oxygen was 3.86 mg/L to 4.3 5 mg/L; pH 5.5 to 8.1; NO 2 , 0.89 mg/L to 0 mg/L; NH 3 , 1.99 mg/L to 0,1 mg/L and H 2 S, 2.3 mg/L to 0.03 mg/L.en_US
