Abstract
Land with little vegetation and land with lots of vegetation has a different microclimate. In addition, the microclimate is also closely related to the comfort or condition of the air temperature and humidity that people around the land feel. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the microclimate (air temperature, humidity, and sunlight intensity), and comfort index on three different lands (secondary forest, settlement area, and post-mining land) in the Coal Mine Area of CV Citra, Muara Badak District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The benefit of this research is as data material in planning to restore microclimate conditions in the mining area and as literature material related to microclimate for future research. The research procedure was carried out by measuring air temperature, humidity, and sunlight intensity three times a day, namely in the morning (07.00 - 08.00 WITA), during the day (12.00 - 13.00 WITA), and in the afternoon (17.00 - 18.00 WITA) for 30 days using the Krisbow brand KW06-291 Environment meter. This research was conducted on three different lands (secondary forest, settlement area, and post-mining land) in the CV Citra Coal Mining Area, which is located in Badak Mekar Village, Muara Badak District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province with the area code KT.198 BB 2016 and an area of 243 ha. The results of this study indicate that the daily average air temperature in secondary forest (27.3°C), where this location is the location with the coolest and coldest air compared to settlement area (28.9°C) and post-mining land (30.2°C). The lowest daily average humidity was measured in post-mining land (70.6%), which means that this location has the least moisture content in the air compared to the other two research locations, namely settlement area (75.2%) and secondary forest (81.5%). The research location with the highest daily average sunlight intensity is post-mining land, which is 1,313 lux due to direct sunlight, while settlement area (753 lux) and secondary forest (279 lux). The comfort index in the secondary forest is 26.3 and the settlement area is 27.4, where these two locations are included in the comfort criteria, while the post-mining land has a comfort index of 28.4, where this location is included in the uncomfortable criteria.
