dc.description.abstractWaters of the Berau Sea serves strategic means for the development of East Kalimantan Province, because most of the district/city in the province is highly dependent on the Berau Sea. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of coral reef ecosystems using the Manta Tow in the waters of the East Kalimantan, District of Region Derawan Islands in the plan of conservation areas District of White Stone Berau District. The results show the percentage of live hard coral cover in Region Derawan Islands Coastal Park Coral Cover on the Great Corel Reef Besar Hard coral life at 8.2% -26.3% (Category medium), Hard coral dead (4,4%-27,7%), Soft coral (5,7%-26,8%), Makro alga (4,7%-17,5%), Rubble (4.4%-29,7%), Rock (5,6%-29%). Sand (6%-37,8%), dan Other (3,9%-11,5%). Factors that cause damage to coral reefs in Derawan Islands Coastal Park area is a result of human activities bombing, poisoning (cyanide), ship anchorings, fishing gear operation that is not environmentally friendly (Trawl), waste dumps into the ocean waters and the existence of natural predators (CoTs ).en_US
