Background: Pain experienced is individual because it is an unpleasant sensory and emotional
experience due to tissue damage. Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic method using hypnotic
suggestions, making people feel relaxed and their subconscious minds active. Purpose: This
study was to determine the effect of hypnosis in reducing postoperative acute wound pain.
Methods: The method in this study was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test non equivalent control group, consisting of two groups without randomization, namely an
intervention group that was treated with hypnosis and a control group that was treated
according to hospital standards. Sampling with consecutive sampling technique, each sample is
16 respondents. The pain scale was measured using a numerical pain rating scale (NRS).
Univariate analysis of mean and bivariate values using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The control
group p-value = 0.034, the mean of the initial measurement was 5.25, and the second
measurement was 5.62. In the case group, the value of p = 0.000 <0.05 with the initial
measurement mean of 6.31 to 1.69 means that hypnosis has a pain-reducing effect on acute
postoperative pain. Conclusion: Hypnosis has the effect of reducing pain levels in clients who
experience acute postoperative wound pain
