Abstract
Communication has an important impact or between work groups in corporate communications. Good communication can make employees work better. Meanwhile, high emotional intelligence is able to evaluate, convey and control emotions so that they become more confident and have control over the tasks they do. This study aims to determine the effect of communication and emotional intelligence on employee performance.
This method of research uses a associative quantitative research that was conducted by survey using a questionnaire. The study was conducted on 56 employees at PT. Prima MitraJaya Mandiri in Kutai Kartanegara Regency with a sampling technique in the form of simple random sampling. data were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis.
The results of this study indicate that as many as 56 employees collected, most of them were male (89%), aged 26-35 years (50%), worked 1-5 years (50%), had high school education (57%) and had married (80%). Communication has a significant and positive effect on employee performance (p=0.000). Emotional intelligence has a significant and positive effect on employee performance (p=0.000). Communication and emotional intelligence together have a significant effect on employee performance (p=0.000) with a contribution of 70.6%. Communication is more dominant in influencing employee performance with a regression coefficient of 0.643.
Employee performance is increasing with increasing employee communication and emotional intelligence. By improving communication and emotional intelligence, employees can work better in accordance with the work targets set by the company.
