Abstract: | This research was conducted in the mangrove forest area of the Kutai National Park, which was named Bontang Mangrove Park, as a nature tourism area that aims to protect the mangrove ecosystem in the City of Bontang. The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in land cover in the Bontang Mangrove Park Area using imagery of land cover from 2002 to 2018. The results show that Bontang Mangrove Park covering an area of 294.78 Ha has a forest cover, especially mangrove forests covering 203, 58 Ha (29.06%) in 2002, increased to 241.75 Ha (82.01%) in 2009, and increased to 264.61 Ha (89.77%) in 2018. Increased forest cover by 61, 03 Ha (30%) in 2002-2018 was generally caused by changes in pond cover to mangrove forest ecosystems within the 16 years. These results at least indicate that the development of Bontang Mangrove Park as one of the models of ecotourism-shaped mangrove forest protection in the Kutai National Park (TNK) is able to have a positive impact on improving the quality of mangrove forest cover in Bontang City. |
