Abstract: | Acute respiratory tract infection (ARI) is one of the health problems that still occurs today. Communities around coal hauling are at risk of suffering from ARI during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to prove whether there is a relationship between extensive ventilation, occupancy density, and length of exposure to ARI during the Covid-19 pandemic and the size of the risk. Observational research with a case control study design. The number of samples was 62 respondents from 31 ARI patients and 31 non-ARI patients who were selected by purposive sampling. The research was conducted from September to October 2020 in Kampung Baru Hamlet, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The data that has been collected is then analyzed statistically Chi- square and the amount of risk with the Odd RatioOR. The results showed that 71% of respondents had extensive ventilation that did not meet the requirements, 60% of respondents with in-room occupancy density that did not meet the requirements, and 25% were exposed to periods of time that were not normal on the transportation route. Ventilation area (p value 0.011; OR 01.8), occupancy density (p value 0.009; OR 0.5), and length of exposure (p value 0.009; OR 0.2). There is a relationship between ventilation area, occupancy density, and length of exposure to ISPA during the Covid-19 pandemic in communities living around coal hauling roads. The risk of the community suffering from ARI during the Covid-19 pandemic still exists so that control efforts are needed such as updating both electric and cloth dust filters on home ventilation and cleaning regularly, adjusting the time to use ventilation, if considering the number of bedrooms that allow, reducing activities outside the home, and use a mask. |
