Abstract: Solving math problems using context is a way that can be done to help use math skills in everyday life. In addition, problems using context will make it easier for students to put mathematics into context so that it will help students use literacy skills in answering questions, and can challenge students' mathematical thinking. This research method is a design research type of development study. The subjects in this study were grade IX students of SMPN 14 Palaran and SMPIT Fastabiqul Khairat Samarinda with a maximum age of 15 years. In this study, it produced 5 math problems using a valid and practical local context and had a potential effect on students' mathematical literacy skills.
