This module is written as a supplementary material for lecturers and students in the Introduction to Linguistics course. This module is designed to provide more appropriate instructional material for college students. The module consists of materials and exercises for students to explore, investigate and analyse and make an abstraction of concepts related to the science of language. This module discusses the theory and practice of concepts and definitions of language and linguistics. Students are given the opportunity to develop their critical thinking through doing exercises in this module. From these exercises, it is hoped that students will not only be able to understand the theoretical framework of introductory linguistics, but also improve students' ability to analyse language in written and spoken form.en_US
