Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) is lignocellulose biomass, which is often used as green
manure in oil palm plantation. However, it constrained by the composting time of the FEB in the field. To overcome the problem we have studied the microbes, which involve in the composting process of EFB. We developed the isolation method using natural substrate derived from EFB. By modification of Cellulose Congo Red Agar (CCRA), in which the EFB powder is used instead of CMC, we have succeeded to show that EFB-Congo Red Agar could be used in determining the lignocellulolytic activity of isolates.
