Factors Related to Work Stress on Employees of the Civil City Service Police Unit Tarakan City

Work can provide importance to human life. Work can provide satisfaction and challenge, as well as be a
distraction and threat. Work-related health problems not only come from physical factors but also psychological
factors. Increased work stress can have social, emotional, psychological impacts and health-related problems. The
aim of this research is to determine the level of stress among members of the Civil Service Police Unit and the
relationship between length of work, work demands and social support and work stress among employee on the City
Civil Service Police Unit, Tarakan City.
The research method uses a cross sectional approach. The instrument used in this research was the NIOSH
Generic Job Stress Questionnaire. This research was conducted in July - August 2023 with the object of research
being 71 of the Civil Service Unit. Data analysis in this study used the chi-square test.
The results of the chi-square analysis show the probability value of each variable: length of service obtained with a
value of p = 0.071 > α = 0.05, work requirements obtained with a value of p = 0.000 < α = 0.05, and social support
obtained with a value of p = 0.000 > α = 0.05.
The conclusion of this research is that there are a significant relationship between workload and social
support on work stress for empolyee of the City Civil Service Police Unit and there is no relationship between length
of service and work stress for employee of the Civil Service Police Unit
