Analysis of spatial visual intelligence on the students of class VII of Junior High School 7 Samarinda
Abstract
This study aims to determine the spatial visual intelligence in the quadrilateral
material of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Samarinda. This
quantitative descriptive study used the research subjects of class VII-A and
VII-B students at SMP Negeri 7 Samarinda, totaling 57 students. The object
of this research is the students' visual-spatial intelligence on quadrilateral
material. Data analysis was carried out descriptively, namely determining
students' visual spatial intelligence based on the characteristics of visual
spatial intelligence on each item and determining students' visual spatial
intelligence as a whole. The results showed that the average visual-spatial
intelligence in rectangular material based on the characteristics of visual-
spatial intelligence possessed, namely (1) Characteristics of imagination with
an average of 39.5, included in the low category. (2) Conceptual
Characteristics with an average of 55.20 including the low category. (3)
Characteristics of Pattern Search with an average of 44.5 including the low
category. (4) Characteristics of Problem Solving with an average of 97.71 are
included in the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that spatial visual
intelligence in the quadrilateral material of class VII students at SMP Negeri 7
Samarinda is included in the medium category with the characteristics of
spatial visual intelligence that most students have is problem solving.
Students with problem solving characteristics are able to determine problem
solving strategies based on the statements given correctly and
systematically.
