Pemeliharaan Benih Ikan Gabus (Channa striata Bloch) Dengan Padat Penebaran Berbeda Terhadap Kelangsungan Hidup Dan Pertumbuhan

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze the influence of fish rearing in different levels of stocking density in a controlled container on the survival and growth of snakehead seed. Experimental fish used was snakehead seed with an average weight of 0.45 g and average length of 4.25 cm. The fish were reared in 12 units aquarium (79 x 44 x 50 cm) for 30 days. Completely randomized design was aplied with 3 level stocking density (10, 20, 30 and 40 fish per container) and 3 replicates. Each aquarium was filled with 50 L of water. Fish were fed silk worms 25% of body weight. Fish were fed twice a day, in the morning and evening. Survival rate, growth and water quality were observed every week.The results showed that level of stocking density did not significantly affect survival rate, but significantly affected daily growth rate and total length. The highest both daily growth rate and length were resulted from the treatment of stocking density of 10 fish per container, that are 5.07% and 2.15 cm respectively. While the smallest growth rate and total length were resulted from treatment of the stocking density of 40 fish per container, that are 4.36% and 1.61 cm respectively
