Abstract
This study aims to analyze color changes, color variation, growth and survival rates and to determine the optimal dose of astaxanthin addition in to feed on color quality, growth and survival rate of koi fish (C. carpio) fry. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replications. The treatment were different doses, namely 0%, 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.5% per feed weight. The results of this study indicated that the addition of astaxanthin to artificial feed had a significant different on color quality (P<0.05) and had no significant effect on growth and survival of koi fish fry (P>0.05). Changes in color levels, changes in red color dimensions and changes in color brightness L*a*b* were highest in the addition of astaxanthin as much as 0.5% per weight of feed, while the dominant average color variation appeared with the addition of astaxanthin, which is orange. black. The results of the analysis of growth and survival rate were not significantly different. Furthermore, the highest average growth in total length and absolute weight growth of koi fish was achieved by adding 0.1% astaxanthin in artificial feed, and the highest specific growth rate was found in the addition of 0.5% astaxanthin. While the highest survival rate was found in the addition of 0.5% astaxanthin, that is 100% survival rate.
