dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT
The use of the cultural significance index , as a tool to calculate a importance value per plant taxon, is a growing trend in quantitative ethnobotany research. The results of the research work of quantitative ethnobotany, intended to respond to the needs of the research process that want based on scientific methods, such as quantification and application of inferential statistics. Studies in this paper aims to discuss and compare various methods that have been applied to access the cultural significance of plants in quantitative ethnobotany. Here it was found that there are some ideas that are still in the development phase of an effort to compile or standardize methods are still divergent. The main challenge in the development of methods is how to produce values that are reliable, capturing the differences and the degree of importance of the use and can provide the data amenable to statistical inference application.
