Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun have many bad impacts towards health, especially for skin as the outermost body part. Exposure to UV rays on skin may cause premature aging, skin cancer, and other skin disorders. Sunscreen is known to be effective to block UV rays from the skin. The use of sunscreen should be implemented in the right way so that one gets an effective protective function. This research aims to investigate the correlation between cognizance and sunscreen use behavior in Mulawarman University students. This research is an analytical observational study with cross-sectional design. The samples were selected using one of the probability sampling methods, i.e., proportionate stratified sampling method. 204 respondents from 13 faculties in Mulawarman University were selected as samples. The data were gathered using questionnaires. The analysis towards the data was performed using Rank Spearman Test. The result showed that the majority of the respondents had cognizance and sunscreen use behavior was within the moderate category (60.8% and 39.7%). It was also found that there was no correlation between cognizance and sunscreen use behavior (p = 0.330).en_US
