Konsep Desain Ruang Belajar di Outdoor Learning Space, Universitas Mulawarman
Abstract
Mulawarman University is the oldest university in East Kalimantan. Various campus facilities at
Mulawarman University are provided to support students to gain learning experiences while studying
at Unmul. The newest facility at Unmul is the outdoor learning space which is located in the center of
the Unmul campus area. Utilization of green open space in this campus area can be a public space and
open learning space. Based on observations in the Unmul outdoor learning space, there are currently
no study room facilities that can accommodate student activities that are protected from rain and heat.
The unavailability of these facilities has resulted in the use of the function of this outdoor learning
space being less than optimal.
Teaching and learning activities in universities today have undergone many changes and developments.
The need for an open study space can be an ideal choice of place to mingle. The design concept of the
study room in the Unmul outdoor learning space area aims to be a comfortable, productive and
educational learning place so that students can relax themselves. Besides that, it can also maximize the
function of the existing outdoor learning space.
The design of this study room also pays attention to several aspects of the function and quality of the
space, as well as user satisfaction. This study room design concept is expected to become a prototype
of learning spaces in other open spaces of Unmul campuses, not only in outdoor learning spaces. More
and more student activities on campus and learning activities have taken place offline, so this study
room can be an alternative supporting facility for students to achieve learning goals.
