Abstract

This research aimed to explain the reason behind United States foreign policy upon abstaining in voting for United Nation Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2334 on 23rd December 2016. It tried to explain the correlation between US foreign policy, the Resolution 2334 of UNSC and Israel’s settlements. The focus of this research is to analyze the reason for US action, which because of this position of US, create resolution number 2334 passes. Furthermore, it has an impact on Israel’s settlements. In this research, the observer is using the explanative method to explain the focus of this research. Observer found the data from the books, documents, journals, and internet browser based on the official website. The outcomes of this research show that the reason of US abstaining from voting on the Resolution 2334 of UNSC is because the US believes that escalation of the building of the settlements by Israel in Palestine territory as an increasing threat to the viability of a two-state solution.
