Ammonia (NH) is a poisonous gas, with a corrosive, colorless characteristic a well as having a strong smell The exposure to ammonia might lead to cyc irritation, burned skin, respiratory infection uch as on the nose. tonsil and lung. as well as death. The aim of this research was to know the relationship berween esposure of ammonia and the use of respiratory protective equipment with the pulmonary restrictive discase suffered by the operators at PT"A" Bontang By using a cross sectional design and Chi Square test, the Mudy canied out on 112 samples and conduded that there is a relationship berween exposure of ammonia (NH3) and use of respiratory protective equipment with the incidence of pulmonary restrictive discase (p-0.000 and0.042) Workers who are exposed to ammonia above the threshold limit value (TLV) has a risk of pulmonary restrictive disease 0.9 times greater than the workforce exposcd to ammonia under the TLV (RR.0.9) and the workens who work not to use respiratory protective equipment at tisk for pulmonary restrictive disease 1.3 greater ithan that uing respiratory protective cquipment (RR-1.3).Companies are advised to perform in engineering and administrative controls, as well as complete a respiratory protective equipment that are more specific to exposure to ammonia.en_US
