Uterine myomas, which are also called fibroids or uterine leiomyomas, are the
most common benign pelvic tumors in women of reproductive age and their incidence
increases every year. Uterine myomas usually have no clinical symptoms, but symptoms
can be found, such as abnormal bleeding, pain, urinary disorders, or infertility. This
study aims to determine the relationship between parity, BMI, age at menarche,
hypertension, and family history with the incidence of uterine myoma at Abdul Wahab
Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda. This research design was observational analytic with
case control method. Data obtained from the medical records of patients at Abdul
Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda for the period January-December 2019 with a
purposive sampling technique, obtained 48 cases and 48 controls. The bivariate
analysis used the Chi-Square test and Fisher's exact test. The results showed
cases:control, parity nulliparous 14:5 and non nulliparous 34:43 with p=0.039 and
OR=3.541, BMI ≤25.0 19:18 and >25.0 29:30 with p=0.834, age at menarche <11
years 3:1 and ≥11 years 45:47 with p=0.617, there is hypertension 15:6 and no
hypertension 33:42 with p=0.047 and OR=3.182, there is a family history 2:0 and no
family history 46:48 with p=0.495. It is concluded that there is a significant
relationship between parity and hypertension with the incidence of uterine myomas and
there is no relationship between BMI, age at menarche, and family history with the
incidence of uterine myomas
