Background: Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stems contain antibacterial substances that can inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause dental and mouth disease. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stem against S. mutans, P. gingivalis, and E. faecalis by measuring the diameter of inhibitory zones. Methods: This study used S. mutans and P. gingivalis ATCC 33277 and E. faecalis ATCC 29212 bacteria. The bacteria were treated with ethanol extract of Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stems with concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The test was carried out five times. Results: The results showed a very significant inhibition zone formation after ethanol extract of Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stem in P. gingivalis bacteria (p = 0.000), E. faecalis (p = 0.000) and S. mutans (p = 0.000). Conclusion:The ethanol extract of Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stem is effective for inhibiting the growth of S. mutans, P. gingivalis and E. faecalis bacteria. Therefore the Arcangelisia flava (L) Merr stem has the potential to be developed as a product related to dentistry.en_US
