This paper aims to describe the results of an online workshop on creating instructional videos with simple technology and in reference to the technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) framework. The workshop was designed as a package of video conferences, creation of the videos, preparation of video-based lesson plans, and teaching using the videos. The workshop played several roles: as a means to achieve the intended purpose, as practice to see the relationship between the process and its outcome, and as a qualitative research approach through which authentic data were obtained. The participants consisted of twelve secondary school teachers of English from different districts in East Kalimantan. Data were gathered from discussions, reflections and outputs of the workshop. The results revealed some indicators of development in the teachers’ skills. First, most of the participants were able to operate the software introduced, and created the Digital Photostory videos successfully, despite few technical problems. Second, they showed their initiative to explore new applications to upgrade their videos, and intention to learn more about video editing. Third, from teaching practice using their own videos, their understanding of the TPACK framework were detected. This study has added the existing evidence that teachers should enhance their technological skills in order to keep up with the rapidly changing world. Future researchers are advised to see the after-workshop effects of such a workshop on its participants’ teaching practice and professional development.en_US
