Abstract
Background: Critical illness is a life-threatening condition that requires intensive care, comprehensive observation, and specialized care. Critical illness sufferers suffer from a variety of physical, psychological and social problems known together as post-ICU syndrome Critical illness is a life-threatening condition that requires intensive care, comprehensive observation, and specialized care. People with critical illness suffer from a variety of physical, psychological and social problems known together as post-ICU syndrome. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines palliative care as an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering through early identification and prompt assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and psychological. spiritual. Objective: to explore the literature that discusses palliative care. Methods : is a research using decision study method or literature review. comprehensive review of research that has been done on a specific topic to show readers what is already known about the topic and what is not yet known, to seek rationale from research that has been done for further research ideas. Results: a literature study in 10 journals that have been assessed for prismatic checks in several databases including pubmed, scholar, and springer in 2016-2021. And get 3main topics 1. Palliative care in critical illness., 2. Compassionate collaborative care., 3. Factors involved in care Conclusion: Palliative care in the ICU is very important because it can reduce the suffering of patients and families, families must also play a direct role in compassionate collaborative care because patient satisfaction is reflected through being "known" by others on the nursing team, transferring patients to palliative care units can reduce costs
