Coscinium fenestratum (CF) and Fibraurea tinctoria (FT) both belongs to the family of Menispermaceae. FT is commonly found in the East Kalimantan. The stems of CF had been proven to have vasodilatation effect on the blood vessel, but there was no data on the vasodilatation effects of FT. To compare the vasodilatation activity on the blood vessel caused by these two plants. The stems of both CF and FT were macerated with absolute ethanol. The comparison test used the method of isolated rat aorta with intact endothelium exposed to three level of extracts concentration, 0.08, 0.16 and 0.32 µg/ml. At 0.08 µg/ml, the percentage effects of the vasodilatation activity induced by the extract of ethanol-CT and ethanol-FT extract were (-8.76 ± 7.52) and (-20.69 ± 6.08) with p = 0.049; at 0.16 µg/ml (-33.62 ± 9.60) and (-58.17 ± 5.85) with p = 0.010; at 0.32 µg/ml (-45.09 ± 9.07) and (-66.81 ± 1.97) with p = 0.006. Conclusion: The vasodilatation activity induced by the ethanol-FT extract is stronger than the ethanol-CF extract. Keyword: Coscinium fenestratum, Fibraurea tinctoria, vasodilatation.
