Recently, the requirement of managing Information Technology (IT) resources properly is
necessary for any organizations. Organizations that are able to manage their IT resources effectively
and efficiently will have more competitive edges. As a result, an effective planning should be outlined
in order to manage IT resources and this will bring some benefits to the organizations as a whole. In
order to optimize the role of IT in various areas, organizations should have efficient IT governance
and they should apply the principles of effective governance. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) framework utilization in the IT governance context in organizations around the world based on the types, sizes and the places/locations of the organizations. The investigation will be conducted by adopting a positive ontology and epistemology methods. The analysis in this study will be carried out by using a quantitative descriptive approach.
