Periodontitis is the sixth highest disease worldwide with Porphyromonas gingivalis as one of the causative bacteria. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) leaves exhibit several antimicrobial activities, such as antibacterial and anti-fungal. This study was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of Cinnamomum burmannii blume extract on the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis. The research design used was the post test only control group design. Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria grown on MHA media were treated using ethanol extract of Cinnamomum burmannii blume with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Cinnamomum burmannii blume formed an inhibitory zone around the paper disc on the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis on MHA media. So it can be concluded that in this study the ethanolic extract of Cinnamomum burmannii blume showed antibacterial activity against the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis.en_US
