Cervical cancer is the first rank cancer cases in Indonesia that often associated with smoking, high parity, and hormonal contraception are risk factors. Cytochrome P45 1A1 (CYP1A1) plays an important role in the metabolism of cervical cancer carcinogens such as Benzo(a) pyrene and estrogen. The aim of this study was to identify the frequency and distribution of CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (3801 T/C and Ile462Val) in cervical cancer. The study was conducted in A.W. Sjahranie State General Hospital Samarinda with 58 patients of cervical cancer. CYP1A1 polymorphisms were determined by PCR-RFLP. For CYP1A1 (3801TC) gene polymorphisms, there were 36.2% wild-types T/T, 37.9% heterozygotes T/C and 25.9% homozygotes C/C. For CYP1A1 (Ile462Val) gene polymorphisms, there were 56.9% wild-types Ile/Ile, 37.9% heterozygotes Ile/Val and 5.2% homozygotes Val/Val. The results show that the frequency and distribution of CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (3801TC dan Ile462Val) in cervical cancer patients not different from other research on Asian.
