HUBUNGAN INDEKS MASSA TUBUH DENGAN DERAJAT RETINOPATI DIABETIK
Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy is a neurovascular complication that occurs in diabetes, both type 1 dan type 2
diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy consists of non proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and proliferative
diabetic retinopathy (PDR). The incidence of diabetic retinopathy is influenced by various factors, one of
which is body mass index. Several studies related body mass index to the severity of diabetic retinopathy
still give inconsistent results. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between
body mass index and the severity of diabetic retinopathy. This study was an observational analytic study
with cross sectional method which was conducted from February to March 2021 at the SMEC Eye Clinic
Samarinda. Data were obtained from 52 diabetic retinopathy patients that met the inclusion and exclusion
criteria who were taken by purposive sampling technique. This study was conducted by measuring height
and weight to directly assess body mass index and medical record to see the severity of diabetic
retinopathy. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test and the value was obtained
p=0,746 (p>0,05). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is no relationship
between body mass index and the severity of diabetic retinopathy.
