LITERATUR REVIEW: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PATIENT SAFETY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

Background: Patient safety is a fundamental principle in health care, as is the identification of novel cases that have yet to be shown beneficial in preventing the transmission of diseases, such as Covid-19. During the Covid-19 outbreak, improving patient safety has been a higher priority. Nurses are already required to wear personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of infection to patients or the nurses themselves. In relation to Covid-19, which has spread around the world, hospitals have taken action by prohibiting patients' families from visiting as long as the Covid-19 increase is still high, with the solution that each patient can only be guarded by one family member, no more, so that during the pandemic, the spread of Covid-19 can be reduced and patient safety can be maintained. Objective: The goal of this study is to see how patient safety was implemented during the covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This study is based on a literature review or method of literature review. Results: International concerns about patient safety during the Covid-19 outbreak, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), visitation limitations, and staff exposure, are mounting. Lack of availability, negligence, lack of awareness, and personal discomfort are all causes that might lead to incorrect PPE use. Furthermore, it prompts the hospital to take action by barring the patient's relatives from visiting while the Covid-19 level remains high. Conclusion: When determining preventive actions as a response among health workers and to increase their productivity during the Covid-19 pandemic emergency situation, or other measures, patient safety concerns related to personal protective equipment and visitation restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic are very useful information. Other such catastrophes may arise in the future that will necessitate the same response.
