Abstract
BELIAN SENTIYU CEREMONY VILLAGE SUKU DAYAK TUNJUNG IN KAMPUNG MUARA KALAQ KUTAI BARAT DISTRICT VIEWED FROM SEMIOTIC AND CULTURE ASPECTS By: Tri Indrahastuti, S.Sn, M.Sn Miekhael Belle ABSTRACT Keywords: Semiotics, Culture, Traditional Ceremonies Tunjung Dayak tribe in Mook Manaar Bulatn sub-district, West Kutai District has a tradition of carrying out traditional sentiyu rituals to heal sick people. This is a form of oral literature in the Tunjung Dayak community. the problem raised in this study is how the cultural aspects and semiotic aspects of the belian sentiyu traditional ceremony. The purpose of this research is to find out the cultural aspects which include tradition, speech, and equipment, as well as the semiotic aspects contained in the speech of the belian sentiyu traditional ceremony in the form of icons, indices and symbols. This research method is a qualitative method. as for the steps used in analyzing data, namely (1) collecting data, (2) translating data, (3) grouping data, (4) data interpretation, (5) drawing conclusions from the data that has been compiled. The results of the study show (1) there are several icons including sumping, beliatn, pemeliatn, roads, cities, ramu-potions, masters of music players, and incense, (2) there are three indexes namely beliant and pemeliatn which is an index that has relation text with text, thenasap, and tali kuing, which is an index related to the world outside the text, (3) there are several symbols, namely sentiyu and ramu-potions. both are symbols that describe the behavior of the Tunjung Dayaks in their daily lives.
