Pencemaran lingkungan bukanlah fenomena baru namun menjadi masalah terbesar dunia.
Masalah pencemaran lingkungan telah menjadi masalah global baik negara ekonomi maju
dan berkembang karena menjadi penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas lingkungan.
Kegiatan manusia melalui urbanisasi, industrialisasi, pertambangan, dan eksplorasi menjadi
penyebab utama pencemaran lingkungan global. Sejumlah besar zat fisik, kimia berbahaya,
agen biologis menyebabkan pencemaran air dan udara telah diidentifikasi sebagai potensi
ancaman terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia. Beberapa teknologi dan proses
pengolahan limbah air dan penanganan polutan udara telah dikembangkan untuk mencapai
tingkat kualitas yang dibutuhkan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi teknologi
membran yang menjadi salah satu teknologi dan proses yang menarik untuk diaplikasikan
karena kemampuan dalam penyisihan yang tinggi dengan biaya rendah. Teknologi membran
dengan proses-prosesnya seperti: mikrofiltrasi (MF), ultrafiltrasi (UF), nanofiltrasi (NF),
osmosis balik (RO), elektrodialisis (ED), membran distilasi (MD), pervaporasi (PV),
membran permeasi uap, membran kontaktor dan membran bioreaktor (MBR) telah digunakan
untuk mengolah air limbah dan penangkapan serta penghilangan polutan udara. Dalam
dekade terakhir, sintesis membran dan proses modifikasi membran dengan bahan material
baru telah dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan kinerja membran dalam proses pengolahan
limbah air dan penanganan serta penghilangan polutan berbahaya dari gas buang.

AULA Outperforms RULA in Evaluating MSD Risks of Oyster Mushroom Farmers: Implications for Safer Farming Practices

This study aims to compare the suitability of two ergonomic evaluation tools,
AULA and RULA, in assessing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) potential risks in oyster
mushroom farmers. The evaluation was based on 26 activities involved in the oyster
mushroom cultivation process, observed in four farms in Lempake Samarinda, and assessed
by 12 experienced experts in ergonomics, safety and health, and agriculture. The hit rate
and quadratic weighted κ were used to compare the two methods. The results showed that
AULA has a higher hit rate and Kappa value than RULA, indicating a moderate level of
agreement and greater suitability for evaluating WMSDs of oyster mushroom farmers in
Samarinda. This finding has implications for improving the safety and health of farmers in
the agriculture sector.

Risk Analysis of Occupational Health and Safety Using Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) Method (Case Study in PT Barokah Galangan Perkasa)

PT Barokah Galangan Perkasa is a company located in East Kalimantan that is engaged in the manufacturing, repair, and maintenance of ships. The welding activity is the most dominant in shipbuilding, but the implementation of the occupational health and safety (OHS) system is not optimal. There have been several work accidents in the upper accommodation and cargo oil tank areas, such as falling from a height, being hit by welding sparks, and an electrical short circuit. The working conditions in this area are quite risky. Therefore, research on risk analysis is needed. HIRARC is a method for identifying a problem that is assessed at risk based on the likelihood and severity where the results of the assessment can determine the level of risk and give risk control for each work activity. Research results show that there were 40 potential hazards in the upper accommodation area with 77% low risk level, 12% moderate risk level, 8% high risk level, and 3% very high risk level. While in the cargo oil tank area there was 37 potentials hazard with 84% low risk level, 13% moderate risk level, and 3% high risk level. By knowing the risk level, companies can identify work activities that require prioritized improvement. They can also determine appropriate control to prevent the occurrence of such risks. Risk control in the upper accommodation area can be achieved through the implementation of administrative controls, utilization of PPE, and technical engineering controls.
